SEND and Inclusion

Every child is unique, valued, and supported to thrive.

At Leaping Toads Nursery, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Every child is unique, and we provide a nurturing environment where children feel secure, valued and supported to thrive.

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Some children benefit from extra support with their learning or development. Our experienced team is trained to recognise when a child may need additional help, and we encourage parents to share any concerns early - working together helps give children the best possible start.

Support may include personalised planning, small group work, communication support, visual aids and close partnership with specialists. Strategies are reviewed regularly with families to ensure they continue to meet each child's needs.

 How We Support Children

Early identification of additional needs

Individualised support plans

A dedicated SENCo

Close partnership with families

Collaboration with external professionals

Support for transitions to school

Working with Professionals and Transitions

We work alongside external professionals to help children receive the right support at the right time. This may include Early Years advisors, Speech and Language Therapists, Health Visitors and Community Paediatric teams. We can also support families through referral processes, including contributing information towards Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments.

As children move on to primary school, we help prepare them by building confidence, independence and key early learning skills, and by sharing information with receiving schools where appropriate.

Emotional Wellbeing and Inclusion

We adapt activities and teaching approaches so every child can access learning, build confidence and feel included. Through warm relationships and gentle guidance, we support children's emotional wellbeing, helping them develop resilience and strong foundations for positive mental health.
